The video provides stark proof of the financial, emotional, and phsycial and psychological impact of the violence and abuse that an estimated five million Americans face every day. We hear from Vicki Bastion, 92, who installed a security gate inside her home to protect herself and what valuables she had left from her grandson and his gang‐related friends; Betty Beckles talks about her daughter beating her; Bob Lee tells us about his father, who was victimized by a paid caregiver causes depression that contributed to his death; and Pat Smith tells us about her husband, who has Alzheimers disease and was victimized financially by a young woman in Las Vegas who walked with $750,000. One of a series of lectures presented on the campus of Northeast State Community College on Saturday, October 18, 2014 as part of Tennessee for a Lifetime. This lecture, "Coping with Alzheimer's and Other Dementias," was presented by Professor Ronald C. Hamdy, MD, and Professor Michele Arns, PNP, FNP-BC, both of East Tennessee State University. The presentation discusses Alzheimer's Disease, as well as other forms of dementia, caring for people with dementia, and caregiver support. Tennessee for a Lifetime is intended to help Tennesseans of all ages learn about growing older. Aging is something we all do, and to a lot of people it feels more complicated now than ever before.
